Tomorrow is my birthday! 

I’m turning 57.

But don’t wait until then to wish me a happy birthday — do it NOW!

I’ve never been known for my subtlety. 

But there’s no way we could have accomplished these amazing things by being subtle:

Success in the political arena requires this kind of attitude:

To succeed, you’ve got to stand up when you’re told to sit down. 

To succeed, you have to stand up for your leaders even when it’s not popular: 

To succeed, you have to get in the faces of those in power:

To succeed, when you lose in the primary, you have to set your ego aside and promote the person who beat you:

To succeed, you sometimes have to go over the top to put a spotlight on power hungry politicians:

To succeed, you have to be willing to do things normal people would never do:

To succeed, you have to be willing to subject yourself to ridicule in order to get the lazy media to pay attention:

The political arena is a dirty, filthy place.

I love it.

I love everything about it. 

It was I was born to do. 

 
And it’s because of you — your prayers, your friendship, your support — that I feel like this EVERY SINGLE DAY:
