1. Governor speech in Yakima
It was an amazing event in my hometown last night. Please watch my speech and let me know what you think:
Gubernatorial candidate Tim Eyman running as a Republican
KING 5, February 12, 2020
YAKIMA, Wash. — Gubernatorial candidate Tim Eyman addressed a group of friends, family and supports on Wednesday, announcing plans and campaign ideas.
Eyman announced just before his press conference at 5 p.m. that he will be running as a Republican. When Eyman announced his plans to run in 2019, he said he would run as an Independent.
He said the decision boiled down to feedback he’s gotten over the last 20 years.
“We’ve done so many initiatives over the years that never would have qualified if it wasn’t for the grassroots of the Republican party… I think it’s because of that loyalty and the bond I’ve got with them, and they are the party of lower taxes, limited government… that fits my value system a heck of a lot more than the Democratic party,” Eyman said.
His gubernatorial announcement came in wake of a King County judge rejecting most of a coalition’s challenge to Eyman’s $30 car-tab measure.
On Wednesday, Judge Marshall Ferguson said the government failed to carry the burden of demonstrating the measure was unconstitutional on most of their claims.
“I decided, since the Democrats and the media always try to make the Initiative (976) about me, and basically put me on the ballot. I felt it was time to simply make it official, so I’m running for governor and I’m running to win,” Eyman said about his decision to run.

3. Our $30 Tabs Initiative found constitutional despite Bob Ferguson’s sabotage
Since day one, Bob Ferguson has been sabotaging I-976. After Sen. Steve O’Ban pointed out the AG’s numerous conflicts, Ferguson arrogantly refused to name outside counsel. He then refused to file for a change of venue, refused to file an affidavit of prejudice on this Jay-Inslee-appointed judge whose employer was the plaintiff, and replied “I don’t know” during oral argument when the judge asked what section 12 of I-976 did.
I offered to answer the judge’s questions when the AG had failed so miserably:
It was clear we were getting shafted by the AG:
Thank goodness super citizen Clint Didier intervened in the case and retained superstar attorney Stephen Pidgeon to defend the voters.
Despite the AG putting the case in a deep hole, Steve was very aggressive, challenging this judge repeatedly. First, he filed a lawsuit with the state supreme court to have the case moved out of King County, arguing all KC’s judges were biased. He formally intervened and fought tooth and nail, challenging this judge every step of the way.
Last week, during oral argument, attorney Stephen Pidgeon did what Bob Ferguson never did: he defended our vote, our initiative, and our democracy.
We found out yesterday that Steve successfully overcame Bob Ferguson’s sabotage.
Yesterday, this judge dismissed almost all the legal challenges to I-976 (two very small issues remain — both easily resolved). Here’s his ruling – https://tinyurl.com/976CourtRuling
In it, he completely repudiates almost all the government’s claims against I-976. It’s a surprising, exciting victory for taxpayers. I’ll have more to say about this tomorrow.
