Best thing I did all year — I took my daughter hunting
I grew up in Yakima and so a lot of my friends were hunters. I never was but I was always intrigued with it.
In 2011, a really good friend of mine — Roy — took me and my two sons hunting for pheasants. Jackson and Jeremy have had two pheasants mounted in their rooms ever since.
So for most of her life, my daughter Riley has seen those pheasants and always said she wanted to go hunting “just like her brothers did.”
Roy took me and Riley over the weekend. Oh my goodness it was fun. I don’t even pretend to know what I’m doing but Roy was there to make sure that everything was OK.

My favorite moment was when she got to shoot a 22 rifle with scope. Roy put an apple about 20 yards away and invited Riley to give it a try — watch this video to see how she did:
