Biggest political loser last night: Jay Inslee
What an exciting evening! I trekked down to Bellevue for the King County GOP’s party and had an extraordinary time laughing and smiling and celebrating election night with a huge roomful of fellow citizens.
Talk about a bad night for Obama.
An incredible number of victories for the Republicans in the US Senate — when the dust settles, it’s looking like 9 pick-ups.
The voters gave the R’s even greater numbers in the US House.
Republican Governors won almost everywhere — way to go Scott Walker and Sam Brownback.
Nationally, it was a total blowout.
But for me, all politics is local. And at the state level, Inslee crashed and burned last night. For months, he’s schemed with California billionaire Tom Steyer to “flip” the Legislature to complete Democrat-control, thereby removing all obstacles to his tax-hiking environmental plans. They targeted specific races and Inslee put all his political capital into taking out his opponents.
But by doing so, the state elections became a referendum on him and his agenda. The people’s verdict? Inslee and his tax-hiking agenda was completely repudiated by the voters.

Every single Republican that he targeted won their race. And by substantial margins.
It was a great night.
Next year’s session is still going to be a knock-down, drag-out fight. But it’s clear that the voters are on our side.
Will you help us represent and defend the taxpayers next year?
