Democrats tax-hiking obsession causing legislative session to drag into overtime
It is an Olympia obsession — take as much as they can whenever they can. The Democrats’ lust for higher taxes knows no bounds.
The legislative session is supposed to end tomorrow but House and Senate Democrats are insisting on tax increases and that is causing the session to be dragged into overtime.
Voters just got done throwing a wet blanket on tax increases when they passed I-1366 last November. Our initiative’s passage clearly shows the voters are in no mood for any tax increase, let alone the laundry list of tax hikes being pushed by House and Senate Democrats this session.
Washington already has one of the highest sales taxes in the nation, one of the highest gas taxes in the nation, high business taxes, the highest death tax, high property taxes, sky-high taxes on tobacco and alcohol and marijuana.
Nonetheless, Olympia’s insatiable tax appetite continues unabated. No matter how much Democrats take from us, they wanna take more.
It’s like pouring water in a bucket filled with holes — it’ll never be enough.
That’s why it’s so critical for us to keep fighting. To keep giving voters the opportunity to express their opposition to higher taxes at the ballot box again and again and again. To vigorously fight to protect our voter-approved initiatives from a political establishment that objects to any limits on government’s taxing power. But the more they fight us, the more it proves how out-of-touch and elitist they are. They don’t understand how tough things are right now for struggling taxpayers. This is not a booming economy where a rising tide lifts all boats. The only thing tax increases will do is make a bad situation worse.
We’re fighting back with “Tougher To Raise Taxes” which puts an automatic one-year expiration date on any tax increase. We’re fighting back with “Bring Back Our $30 Car Tabs” which caps vehicle registration fees at a flat, fair $30 per year.
We can win these battles on behalf of taxpayers but we need your financial support to succeed. Please make a donation today. With your help and support, we will continue to accomplish extraordinary things for the taxpayers of Washington.
