Even with Inslee taking capital gains taxes and business taxes off the table, House and Senate Democrats are so tax-obsessed that in final budget negotiations, they are still insisting on massive tax increases. Democrats’ tax obsession are why they’re in a 2nd special session.
It’s really infuriating that Democrat legislators from outside Seattle won’t listen to what the people have clearly said about taxes.
For over a decade, voters outside Seattle have clearly illustrated their opposition to higher taxes. Year after year, ballot measure after ballot measure all say the same thing: taxpayers don’t support politicians raising taxes.
And even taxpayers supported tax hikes (they don’t), Sound Transit’s $54 billion tax grab has sucked all the oxygen out of the room. There’s no more capacity, no appetite for higher taxes.
But Democrats aren’t listening. And as a result, there’s been special session after special session, delay after delay.
