Join Me @ Two Historic Hearings Thurs: Initiative 1000 8-10am, Hobb’s Carbon Tax Bill 9-11am

by | Apr 17, 2019

Join me at 2 historic hearings in Olympia tomorrow (Thurs, April 18):

Initiative 1000 hearing 8-10am

and

Sen Steven Hobbs’ $12 billion Taxapalooza bill 9-11am

It’s gonna be a challenge, but join me at 2 overlapping hearings in Olympia tomorrow:

Topic: Initiative 1000
What’s I-1000 do? It overturns voter-approved I-200 which for the past 20 years has prohibited state and local governments from discriminating against, or granting preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, and public contracting.
Message to the committee: as with any citizen initiative, don’t cut the people out, don’t impose it unilaterally, let the voters decide if they want to overturn voter-approved I-200
Day/time: Thurs, April 18, 8-10am
Location: O’Brien Bldg, Room A, in Olympia (joint hearing of the House & Senate, the only public hearing on the initiative)

Topic: Sen. Steve Hobb’s Taxapalooza tax bill
What’s SB 5971 do? It’s got 19 tax increases — new carbon tax, higher car tab taxes, sales taxes, gas taxes, and more. State budget office report shows it’ll cost taxpayers nearly $12 billion: https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/WAGOV/bulletins/23ed622

Message to committee: Carbon tax? We said no twice. Car tabs? We said $30 twice and saying it a 3rd time in November. $12 billion? Are you flippin’ crazy?
Day/time: Thurs, April 18, 9-11am
Location: Cherberg Bldg, Room 4, in Olympia (Senate Ways & Means)

There are so many horrible things happening in Olympia right now that it’s easy to get overwhelmed.

Don’t.

Join me tomorrow and let’s tell those dirty dogs how truly offended we are by these two.
