Jump-starting signature drive for I-1366 a huge success – help us keep it going
5 times the voters have passed initiatives making it tougher for Olympia to take more of the people’s money. Voters approved all of them. And when those 2/3 initiatives passed, they worked perfectly: they made tax increases an absolute last resort in Olympia. The 2/3 policy forces the Legislature to prioritize spending and reform government by using existing revenue more effectively.
This year we’re pushing to make that policy permanent with our 2/3-For-Taxes Constitutional Amendment Initiative. The best part is that once that protection is embedded in the state Constitution, politicians can’t take it away. It’s forever.
On Monday, we announced that Tim jump-started the signature drive with Initiative 1366 with a $150,000 loan from a 2nd mortgage on his home. That early “seed money” allowed us to hire a professional signature gathering company immediately. Their paid petitioners are already out there asking voters to sign petitions for Initiative 1366.
Yesterday, our first mailing was sent to all our regular supporters. In it, there is a letter, an initiative petition, and a return envelope. So by the end of this week, all of you will have the chance to start collecting signatures for this year’s initiative too.
This is really exciting. We’re moving forward like a freight train. We’ve got great momentum but we need everyone’s help to keep it going. Please step up and support this crticial effort.
