Last week I went the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida

As I’ve said before, I’m a hardcore political junkie.  The way normal people get excited about baseball games and music concerts, I get goosebumps over politics.  I like the fight (it’s vicious and messy), I like the stakes (really high), I like letting the voters decide.

So attending the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida was a real thrill.  I managed to make it to every session and watch every speech.  And even though I was simply a guest of an official delegate, I got to be on the floor on the final night with the balloon drop and everything.

       Wow.

My focus will always be on our initiatives because they are THE ONLY WAY we’re having an impact on politics in Washington state.  But I can’t help but observe the excitement and anticipation over this year’s races for President, US Senate, US House, governors, state legislatures across the nation.  The stakes are incredibly high.  It’s really very, very exciting.  I urge everyone to get involved and help make our state and our country a better place with better leaders.

Here’s a very humorous news story about one of my days in Tampa — hope you’ll take the time to read it:  Riding out a GOP bus fiasco, with Tim Eyman — http://blogs.seattletimes.com/politicsnorthwest/2012/08/29/riding-out-a-gop-bus-fiasco-with-tim-eyman/

Now, thanks to all of you helping get Initiative 1185 on the ballot for a November vote, our focus is now on getting it passed and asking for help with our compensation fund.  In other words, shaking a tin cup.
