After a big debate where the pigs at the trough had every advantage, voters overwhelmingly passed Initiative 976. It wasn’t even close: 66% yes in Pierce County, 59% yes in Snohomish County, 52% in non-Seattle King County, 59% in the 38 counties outside King.
It was a blowout victory.
We fought for $30 tabs. We won the election.
We have every right to expect $30 tabs. We deserve $30 tabs.
I’m hearing from more and more people who are refusing to renew their vehicle tabs until this voter-approved law takes effect.
I’m hearing from more and more people who have been pulled over, who explain to the officer that this is a peaceful protest, and the officers are using their discretion and letting them off with a warning. I have not heard of anyone being ticketed.
I have not renewed my vehicle tabs — I encourage you to do the same:
We won the vote, but they took away democracy. They stripped away the right of every citizen to have their vote counted.
We cannot just roll over and accept this outrage. We must fight back.
I am asking all of us to engage in peaceful, non-violent, non-cooperation. Don’t renew your tabs.
But that’s not the only way we’re fighting back.
I ask you to join me/us on Mon, Dec 30, @ 11am in Olympia where we’re filing a new lawsuit to protect our $30 Tabs Initiative. You’re gonna love it! Wherever you live, please make it here and be part of history (2000 Lakeridge Dr SW, Olympia). I’m looking forward to meeting you in person and thanking you for your help and support over the years.
Join us for this 1-hour rally for $30 tabs (11am-12noon – lawsuit filed at 11:30am). Everyone gets a signed $30 Tabs sticker. I’ll give away an iconic orange $30 Tabs t-shirt to the person who travels the furthest to get there.
