My goal is to make the government responsive to the people …

During a debate over Initiative 1185 on Seattle-mega-liberal radio station KUOW, moderator Steve Scherr asked pro-1185 advocate Ed Orcutt (R-Kalama) this:  “I wanted you to respond to this by answering:  Why are you in the legislature?  What is your goal and how is 1185 part of that goal?”

Rep. Orcutt’s response?  “My goal is to make the government responsive to the people instead of forcing the people to be responsive to government.  Quite frankly, that’s the easiest way to sum it up.”

Anybody besides me suddenly inspired to move to Kalama?  Wouldn’t it be great to be represented by someone who has that as their goal in Olympia?

        Wow.

But that wasn’t his only shining moment.  From beginning to end, Rep. Orcutt sliced-and-diced 1185 opponent Doug MacDonald throughout the debate.  It was a great victory for our side and a humiliating defeat for the other side.
