Our efforts are making it really tough for politicians to raise taxes

by | Jul 30, 2014

Politicians raise taxes when they think they can get away with it.  When they think the voters won’t find out.  When they think the voters can’t stop it.  That’s the way it works.

Whether it’s the voters overwhelmingly voting (multiple times) for $30 car tabs, for limits on property tax increases, for 2/3 legislative approval or voter approval for tax hikes, and for tax advisory votes, we’ve made it tougher for politicians to raise taxes.

And even when we “swing and miss”, like we did this year with the 2/3-For-Taxes Constitutional Amendment Initiative, the attempt is an incredibly effective “shot across the bow” when it comes to Olympia raising taxes in 2015.

Politicians and the press always knew that the voters would have passed Initiative 1325 by a huge margin if it had qualified.  Polls and past election results prove it.

We’ve shown politicians what’ll happen if they go hog wild raising taxes next year.  They know we will keep trying.  They know we will eventually be successful, especially if they go bonkers.

The best way to keep Olympia on a short leash is by qualifying and passing our initiatives.

What’s the second best way?  By trying to qualify and pass our initiatives.

Thanks to your support over the past 16 years, we’ve laid down a growing number of political landmines for raising taxes.

It doesn’t mean we’ve won, but it does mean we are winning.  And that will continue … as long we keep trying.  And that’s exactly what we’re gonna do.  It’s the only way to protect taxpayers.

Our compensation for our political work comes from supporters’ voluntary donations during the final 6 months of the year.  We need your help.

If you like and appreciate our past, current, and future efforts on behalf of taxpayers, please send us a donation for $10, $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1000, $2500, $5000 or more (there are no limits on how much can be given).
