FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Tim Eyman, Candidate for Governor, is part of a team of plaintiffs filing a federal lawsuit today against Jay Inslee to force the end of his politically-motivated lockdown of Washington citizens and businesses.
Tacoma, WA – May 1, 2020 –
Today at the US District Court in Tacoma, Tim Eyman and a team of plaintiffs will file a civil rights violation lawsuit challenging Governor Jay Inslee’s economic lockdown devastating low- and middleincome workers and small businesses.
Today’s lawsuit is the first of several that will be filed in the coming days. This first one is Didier, Thomas, Eyman et al v Inslee. (Background here: www.SueInslee.com)
In a letter to US Attorney General, William Barr, asking him to assist in ending Inslee shutdown order, Eyman cited 5th Amendment violations by Inslee’s proclamation, which he described as “extra-legal.” Eyman also pointed to 1st Amendment violations of Inslee’s edict, including banning church worship services and restricting people in parks, for example, to groups of no more than two. (See full letter here.)
“It’s all about him, not us.”
Eyman said, “Inslee’s recent and foolish decision to extend his lockdown beyond the federal guideline of May 1st will result in additional and substantial harm to working families in our state.”
“Inslee’s arbitrary and capricious designation of certain people and businesses as non-essential is driven by political bias, payback, pay-offs, and patronage – not science, the law, or the Constitution,” Eyman said.
“More and more voters agree with the President: Jay Inslee is a snake.,” said Eyman.
“On behalf of the ‘non-essential’ citizens of the state of Washington, I urge you and your office to join us in our efforts to Open Washington Now,” said Eyman, citing his recent project to recruit and train Washingtonians to put pressure on their local elected officials to open up their counties.
Eyman said, “I firmly believe that Jay Inslee now realizes he overreacted and made a huge mistake with his order, but his own pride and insecurity is preventing him from doing what is best for citizens. It’s all about him, not us.”
“Please Mr. Barr, Jay Inslee is not listening to the people who are suffering under his rule. We need your help to convince the judiciary to rein him in before he causes irreparable harm to our lives, our liberty, and our livelihoods,” Eyman said.
“We are the other Washington, Mr. Barr, and we need your help.”
