Senator Jan Angel! Tax averse district elects tax averse legislator

by | Nov 8, 2013

In the 26th district (Pierce/Kitsap Counties) last year, Initiative 1185 got nearly 70% of the vote.  The 2/3-for-taxes vote requirement received overwhelming support there.  It’s clearly populated with tax averse voters.

A taxpayer friendly legislator Jan Angel challenged tax happy Nathan Schlicher in a state senate race this year … and voters picked Jan!

This is a great victory for taxpayers.  And it’s clearly a vote of confidence for the fiscally conservative approach the Senate Majority Coalition Caucus took last year.

Every tax happy group put all their chips on tax happy Schlicher — and lost!

We want to congratulate Jan Angel for her impressive victory.  It’s encouraging that voters rejected the tax happy guy.  It bodes well for 2014.

The three of us will do our best to learn from this year’s experiences. We will continue to listen, learn, and persevere.

Thank you all for your encouragement and support. We will continue to focus our efforts on protecting taxpayers.
