  State Department of Transportation to taxpayers:  we’re massively incompetent, would you please give us a raise?

         Big bill and big delay to fix new 520 pontoons, SEATTLE TIMES, July 31, 2013:  Fixing, sealing and strengthening Highway 520 bridge pontoons has cost at least $81.1 million, with more expenses ahead, the state has revealed.  That work, the result of a state design team’s engineering error, has also delayed opening the bridge by at least a year.  More here:  http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2021503081_pontoonscostsxml.html

         Can you believe that Governor Inslee and the Democrats pushed hard this year to raise transportation taxes over $10 billion?  Giving our state government more taxes is like putting more water into a leaky bucket.  They’ll never fix the hole if raising taxes is easier.    

         We’re moving full steam ahead on our new initiative:  LET THE VOTERS DECIDE ON A 2/3-FOR-TAXES CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.  Our measure ensures permanent protection from Olympia’s propensity to raise taxes.
