There are 7 statewide measures on the fall ballot, 5 are tax advisory votes
The Secretary of State has posted the online version of the fall voters pamphlet. There are 7 statewide measures on the fall ballot, 5 are tax advisory votes: https://wei.sos.wa.gov/agency/osos/en/press_and_research/PreviousElections/2013/General-Election/Pages/Online-Voters-Guide.aspx
Thanks to the voters approving Initiative 960 in 2007, we get to vote on the tax increases imposed by this year’s Legislature. It makes the voters pamphlet into a “tax increase report card.”
Politicians introduced and debated thousands of bills this year and many of them were tax increase bills. We fought back against all of them. But when the dust settled, the Legislature imposed 5 tax increases. So there will be 5 public votes this fall, one per tax increase. You’ll be asked whether each tax increase should be “repealed” or “maintained.”
There is no better way for politicians to know what the people think than by asking them at the ballot box. Think of it like a huge town hall meeting where the politicians have to listen to everybody.
We were incredibly successful fighting back against Olympia’s big push for tax increases this year. From now until the end of December, we ask that you please support our efforts by donating to our compensation fund.
