Tomorrow’s OSPI tax plan: Democrat Chris Reykdal’s tax schemes even worse …

House and Senate Republicans are unified in pursuing a no-new-taxes budget. Inslee’s tax-hiking plan is a non-starter and completely crazy. The House Democrats’ schemes are a tax-hiking extravaganza that voters clearly oppose.
Olympia Democrat Chris Reykdal is the new Superintendent of Public Instruction and tomorrow morning (Wednesday) his office is going to release his own tax-hiking budget scheme. It’s gonna be what you’d expect from an Olympia Democrat: capital gains taxes, property taxes, and other taxes imposed on Washington’s citizenry.
What Reykdal wants to do is propose a budget that agrees with the House Democrats’ tax-hiking approach. Then he can say “I, the nonpartisan OSPI chief, have looked at both approaches — the no-new-taxes budget of the Republicans and the tax-heavy budget of the Democrats and I endorse the Democrats’ tax-hiking approach.”
What a joke.
Tomorrow when the press is breathlessly reporting and fawning over Reykdal’s “compromise” budget, you and I will know the truth: that it’s just a Democrat-lite tax hiking scheme that moves us no closer to ending this year’s legislative session.
We’ve repeatedly shown that 2/3 of voters strongly oppose the Legislature raising taxes this year (cut out Seattle voters and the percentage of anti-tax voters is even higher than 2/3 in swing districts outside Seattle).
House and Senate Democrats are only representing Seattle when it comes to taxes. And Inslee is wearing a dunce cap, watching the process from a corner in the room.
We’re taxed enough already.
I ask you — RIGHT NOW — to email this, or something like this to ALL legislators:
“House and Senate Democrats, the people are opposed to the Legislature raising taxes this year. $3 billion in additional revenue from our existing tax burden is more than enough to adopt a no-new-taxes budget.
You need to accept the reality that Sound Transit’s $54 billion tax-hiking pig-out has completely sucked all the oxygen out of the room. Skyrocketing car tab taxes, burdensome property taxes, crushing sales taxes — the cupboard is already bare.
We’re taxed enough already. There’s no way the taxpayers will tolerate higher taxes this year, not with Sound Transit’s car tab rip-off. To all legislators: vote NO on any tax increase bills this year.”
