Truly scary: raving lunacy of socialist no different than Inslee

by | Mar 3, 2017

There’s a socialist on the Seattle City Council — her name is Kwama Sawant (ya, I know, all of ’em are socialists in practice but she actually identifies as socialist).  After Trump’s speech on Tuesday, Sawant gave the Socialist Party’s response and KIRO TV carried it live.

I found it truly scary.  This part particularly so:

In case you can’t watch that clip, she proclaimed:
“My sisters and brothers, the wealth of these 8 richest billionaires — and I just heard Bill Gates is on his way to being the world’s first trillionaire — the wealth of these 8 richest billionaires needs to be confiscated and democratically allocated for the needs of the majority.”

Needs to be confiscated?  That’s another way to describe taxation.

Democratically allocated?  That’s just another way to describe government spending.

The state budget office confirms that Inslee’s proposed tax bills will cost taxpayers $51.2 billion – $3000 for a family of 4.  So the Governor believes that $51.2 billion needs to be confiscated and democratically allocated.  But being a Democrat politician, not a socialist politician, he’d never say it that way.

But the result on our family budgets is exactly the same whether that $51.2 billion is called taxation or confiscation.  It hurts the same if it’s sponsored by a Democrat or a socialist.

State and local governments are already confiscating tens of billions of dollars from the taxpayers from huge sales taxes, skyrocketing property taxes, surging business taxes, death taxes, tobacco taxes, alcohol taxes, and an endless list of fees and other charges.  We’re already paying for than our fair share from all the existing confiscation.  We don’t support any more.

During the campaign, Jay Inslee never told the voters about his $51.2 billion confiscation agenda.  He hid his tax-hiking schemes.  Nearly 2/3 of voters have clearly shown their opposition to higher taxes.  And with Sound Transit’s $54 billion pig-out, taxpayers are totally tapped out anyway.

We are thrilled with the positive feedback we’re getting on this year’s initiative.  The Property Tax Fairness Initiative is a bold, exciting proposal that helps everyone.  It cuts property taxes 25% for everyone, caps property tax increases, and eliminates the personal property tax.  It’s all about making property taxes fairer.  Help us make it a reality.
