Voters overwhelmingly rejected all 4 tax hikes imposed by Inslee this year. Tax advisory votes rock!

by | Dec 7, 2020

Inslee imposed 4 “emergency” tax increases during the 2020 legislative session.

It’s important to confront him whenever he steps out of line.

Even though the Constitution guarantees the people the right to referendum (collect signatures to put a new law on the ballot for the voters to vote on), emergency clauses being slapped on tax bills blocks them from a referendum.

That’s why Tax Advisory Votes were implemented (voters passed our initiatives in 2007, 2010, and 2012 that mandated them).

So now when Inslee imposes tax increases and blocks the Constitution’s referendum power, those tax increases are placed on the November ballot for the voters to learn about and vote on.

Here’s the history:

Bottom line:

* Voters rejected all 4 of Inslee’s tax increases this year
* We’ve been hit with $52.1 billion in tax increases in the past 8 years.
* Voters are discerning — they’ve opposed 25 tax increases, and agreed with 10 of them.
* Massive participation: more voters voted on Tax Advisory Votes than races for Lieutenant Governor, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Insurance Commissioner, and state supreme court. Those 72 million votes came from active, engaged voters who want their voices heard.

Maybe even more importantly is the voters pamphlet which now serves as a tax increase report card. It lists how legislators voted on each tax increase, the state budget office’s confirmed cost for each tax increase, and legislators’ office phone numbers and email addresses.

That’s transparency. That’s accountability.

Politicians like Inslee and Ferguson hate that.

So is it any wonder the AG’s lawsuit asks for a lifetime ban on all my future political activity?

really need your help — the massive costs resulting from the AG’s lawsuit are overwhelming. If they take me out, who will dare challenge them? I am so incredibly grateful for your prayers and support during this very difficult time for me and my family.
