Watch video of Eyman ridiculing Inslee — the guy’s a joke

by | Mar 23, 2017

7 hours driving to and from Mukilteo to Olympia on Tuesday, and I get just 60 seconds to testify before the Senate Ways & Means committee members and make my point.  Ugh!

Here’s what I had to say:

If you can’t watch the video, here’s my prepared remarks:

“Tim Eyman from Mukilteo.  I just came from Governor Inslee’s press conference where he bashed the Senate Republicans budget.  But it’s hard to take him seriously when he’s proposing raising taxes a stunning $51.2 billion over the next 10 years.  It’s ridiculous and silly.

“The Senate Republicans budget earns an A+ on taxpayers report card.  It is a sustainable budget that uses $5 billion in explosive revenue growth without raising taxes. It wasn’t too long ago when Governor Gary Locke and Dino Rossi adopted a no-new-taxes budget of $23 billion. This $43 billion plan is jaw-droppingly huge without raising taxes.

“The property tax reform plan by the Republicans is not unilaterally imposed, it only takes effect if voters agree. Good for you for letting the voters decide.

“We have repeatedly shown at the ballot box that 2/3 of voters oppose higher taxes. Last November, voters rejected a carbon tax. They’ve 9 times rejected an income tax.

“The Senate Republicans have clearly heard the voters message not to raise taxes.

“The Republican budget rejects unilaterally raising taxes and instead uses $5 billion in explosive growth from our existing tax burden to fund government services. That’s an A+ in my book.  Thank you.”

Help us fight back against Inslee and the Democrats’ tax-hiking obsession. While they’re pushing for tax increases, we’re pushing for tax relief — we’re fighting fire with fire.  The Property Tax Fairness Initiative is a bold, exciting proposal that helps everyone.  It cuts property taxes 25% for everyone, caps property tax increases, and eliminates the personal property tax.  It’s all about making property taxes fairer.  Help us make it a reality.
