We’ve been really busy lately — please support our efforts
We’ve been working really hard in January and February. We can only continue with your financial support. A few examples:
* We’ve been filing various taxpayer protection initiatives since January. Before we decide which one(s) to do this year, we want to see what happens during the legislative session. A “2/3-For-Taxes Constitutional Amendment” Initiative, “Repeal Taxes That Didn’t Pass With A 2/3 Vote” Initiative, Bring Back Our $30 Car Tabs Initiative, Let the Voters Decide on Red-Light Cameras Initiative, Limit Tolls Initiative, and several others. A rolling stone gathers no moss. Stay tuned.
* We’ve already qualified an initiative for this year’s November ballot. It protects the initiative process itself. Initiative 517 — the Protect the Initiative Act — makes it safer for people to collect initiative signatures, extends the time to collect initiative signatures, and requires initiatives that qualify for the ballot get voted on. I-517 puts the citizen back in the citizen initiative process. You can read more about it here: http://yeson517.com/
* Every year for the past 10 years, we’ve had to travel down to Olympia to “beat back” bills that were being pushed by anti-initiative politicians who were trying to gut the initiative process. This year is totally different. This year, several legislators who strongly support the initiative process are pushing bills that would improve it!! We’ve been working overtime to line up support for them.
* A Stop Light Rail Initiative in the city of Vancouver was blocked from a public vote and we’ve been helping them get their initiative qualified. The people have a right to vote on issues they care about. And that massive boondoggle deserves to be discussed, debated, and voted on by the citizens themselves.
We need your financial support so we can continue fighting.
