What’s truly extraordinary about all of you is your persistence and perseverance
We don’t say “thank you” often enough. The only reason we’re making a difference in the political arena is because of your continued support for our efforts.
It’s amazing what we’ve accomplished together over the past 15 years. 2/3 legislative approval for tax increases (for 2 years not a single tax increase imposed after voters passed it in 2007, for 2 years not a single tax increase imposed after voters passed it in 2010, and so far, no tax increases following I-1185’s passage last November). Lower car tab taxes (not $30 but radically lower than they used to be). Limits on property tax increases (not 1% but much lower than they otherwise would be). Performance audits of state and local governments. And overwhelming voter rejection of red-light cameras in every city where we forced a vote.
At any point over the past 15 years, you could have said “enough” and given up. But you didn’t. You stayed the course. You persisted. And each time, you were subsequently rewarded with victories that defied all odds. In politics (as in life) we’ve learned that you only lose if you quit.
As long as we keep fighting (and we have the citizens on our side), our cause will continue to succeed.
