Yesterday’s rally for our new $30 Tabs Initiative was a smashing success. I planned 11am – 2pm — but the energy and enthusiasm of signers was so great, that we stretched it out and went nonstop from 10:30 am – 3:30 pm. Super-charged supporters joined me and we got tons of signatures from a whole lot of surly, spittin’ mad Pierce County taxpayers who had just paid their car tabs. These folks were eager to sign and walked away with a bucket-load of blank petition sheets. My email update tomorrow will include lots of pics and video. Let yesterday’s success inspire you to help this heroic effort to Bring Back Our $30 Car Tabs and stick it to Sound Transit. How’d you like $30 tabs again for your cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, motorcyles, motor homes, and other vehicles? $30 means $30.
There’s another battle front that’s heating up. Last Friday, I won “round 1” in my lawsuit against the Attorney General (Eyman v Ferguson). The judge agreed to decide whether I’m right that the Attorney General is breaking the law. The Legislature imposed 3 tax increases in a bill and the law (which we wrote and voters approved 3 times) says there ought to be 3 separate public votes this November, one on each tax increase — but the AG is ignoring that law. This Monday at 8:30 am in Thurston County Superior Court, I’ll be doing the oral argument myself. Wish me luck.
