Bob Ferguson hates these women.

WARNING: IF YOU’RE A WOMAN WHO IS CLOSE TO ME, BOB FERGUSON IS COMING AFTER YOU.

Before the trial, Cheryl Marshall, a single widowed mother with a severely disabled son, intervened in the AG’s case against me.

A law firm out of the Midwest was representing her and she wanted to, on behalf of those who donated to me, my family, my legal defense fund, and our initiatives, that her right (and your rights) to associate with me were being infringed upon (violation of the First Amendment — freedom of association).

Ferguson targeted her, threatened her, blackmailed her, and she was forced to withdraw from the case.

Why’d he go after her so viscerally?

I’ve known Cheryl for nearly a decade and she’s a great friend and supporter.

And Ferguson hated her for it.

So he went after her, blackmailed her, and got her out of the way.

What kind of sick, sadistic, small little man preys on women like this?

During the government’s 8 1/2 years of investigation of me, Ferguson went after Karen, my wife (at that time) of 25 years. In multiple letters to him, I made it clear that Karen has serious health challenges, is a very private person, and was never involved in my political activities.

Didn’t matter.

He filed a motion compelling her to be subjected to a deposition.

But wait, isn’t there that thing called spousal privilege, where a spouse can’t be forced to testify against another spouse?

Yes, there is.

So Bob Ferguson filed a motion asking the Court “how do we know they’re married?” Every motion and response drove my legal costs through the roof.

So we were forced to supply documents.

We even had to turn over our marriage certificate from 1993.

Ferguson’s response?

That proves they were married, how do we know they’re still married?

After fighting over this with motion after motion after motion, costing me tens of thousands of dollars, the judge eventually agreed with the AG that since there was no way to know what questions would be asked, the judge allowed the interrogation of Karen to go forward.

So Karen was forced to “lawyer up” and have 3 AG’s grill her for 3 hours telling them over and over again that she was a full-time mom whose focus was on raising 3 kids (4 if you count me) and not politics.

What did they learn?

Nothing they didn’t already know.

It was pure harassment.

He targeted her and preyed on her.

Why?

Because she was close to me.

SO WHAT’S THE LATEST ON FERGUSON TARGETING THE WOMEN WHO ARE CLOSE TO ME?

As I already reported, Thurston County’s kangaroo court rubber-stamped the AG. And all the craziness that led to it.

The judge said I gotta pay $5.5 million (I have $24,579.81 left in my bank account — everything I’ve ever earned in my lifetime, every dollar raised from friends and family over the past 8 years is gone).

2 1/2 years ago, I filed for bankruptcy because of all the legal costs to defend myself from the AG’s legal onslaught.

But because it’s the government, that $5.5 million is “non-dischargeable” meaning it will never go away.

But worst of all, the judge imposed a bunch of ridiculously unconstitutional restrictions on free speech. For example, the finding/ruling/decision that I, Tim Eyman personally, am a political committee IS TRULY INSANE.

Because a political committee can’t spend its’ money for “personal use.”

So if I am a political committee, then that means it is illegal for me to spend my own money for personal living expenses.

So his ruling makes it illegal for me to live.

If Bob Ferguson gets away with this insanity against me, he can and will do the same thing to anyone who stands in his way toward his path to even greater power.

That’s why I must appeal this. And Ferguson knows how constitutionally indefensible these restrictions are and that’s why he’s desperately trying to stop me from appealing.

How?

By driving up my legal costs so I can’t afford to defend myself anymore.

His latest move?

Despite winning everything he wanted in Thurston County, he went into federal bankruptcy court yesterday seeking permission from the judge to depose/interrogate Karen (again) and my sister-in-law Carol.

And he filed these motions without giving either of them notice he was targeting them.

So my attorney (more costs to me) went in there and argued against the AG even though he couldn’t represent them. The bankruptcy judge ruled against the AG saying their motions hadn’t been brought forward properly.

Ferguson didn’t care he did it wrong — taxpayers paid for his mistakes.

What he cared about was that the whole thing cost me more money.

And he’ll just turn around and refile and do it all again at taxpayer expense.

So now Karen and Carol are now forced to “lawyer up” and defend themselves.

For what?

The child support payments I’ve been sending to Karen and my monthly rent payments to Carol (I rent a condo from her in Bellevue).

Bob Ferguson hates these women:

Why? Because they’re close to me.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT CAROL

Carol was Karen’s maid-of-honor at our wedding in 1993. She’s wickedly smart (Jeopardy, crossword puzzles, etc), witty, snarky, and incredibly generous. Karen and Riley and other members of my family have been able to survive during this onslaught because Carol’s been willing to help them.

Ferguson hates her for that.

But she, like Karen, has serious health challenges and is a very, very private person.

Nonetheless, when I ran for Governor, she spoke at my announcement … for 27 seconds.

That was 27 seconds longer than she was comfortable with.

But she did it anyway.

For me.

What did she say?

The meat of it: “He’s a good guy with a lot of integrity. And he’s my pick.”

And she quickly slipped away and sat down. She’s a very private person.

Carol and I are both a couple of odd ducks but she “gets” me and I “get” her. She’s not just my sister-in-law, she’s one of the people I’m closest to.

And that rat-bastard Ferguson is going to force her to get interrogated — her worst nightmare — for hours.

Why?

Because she’s close to me.

Today is Carol’s birthday. 

We celebrated it last night — I brought her flowers, a box of about 50 fortune cookies (so we could find one we liked), and I made us dinner.

Today, she and Karen are taking their mom out for lunch. And then they’re traveling up to Skagit County for dinner. They’re very close.

But last night, as is typical with her, for her birthday, she gave me a gift.

And despite being targeted by Ferguson and having her and her sister Karen dragged into all this horribleness, she gave me this card:

Part of me feels guilty about sending out this update.

Because I know none of these women wants to be in the spotlight — they’d rather live their private lives and be left alone.

But Bob Ferguson is preying on them and everyone needs to know and to know why.

He’s doing it because they’re close to me and figures that going after them hurts me.

And it does.

A lot.

But if I don’t put a spotlight on what he’s doing, then these women will be hurt by him and he’ll get away with it in secret.

I need to do what I can. And what I can do is tell everyone about his gross abuse of power and sick obsession with preying on women.

I don’t like using the word “evil” to describe political adversaries. But it’s hard for me to not think of that word when it comes to such a small, cowardly, power-hungry fascist like Bob Ferguson.

Here’s where I’m coming from on this: I know that if I give in and give up and he gets away with what he’s done to me and my friends and my family, he’ll target others the same way.

And I can’t — I won’t — let that happen.

HE HATES ALL OF YOU FOR HELPING ME SURVIVE HIS LEGAL ONSLAUGHT. IF IT WASN’T FOR ALL OF YOU, I NEVER WOULD HAVE MADE IT TO TRIAL.
