We dodged 5 bullets. More details on those 5 LIBERAL INITIATIVES that are now DEAD because my lawsuits. It’s why we must stay on PERMANENT OFFENSE.

Will the crazies ever stop pushing their socialist ideas?

Of course not.

So what happens if we sit on the sidelines and give up on promoting conservative initiatives?

Then the Kshama Sawant’s of Washington state will continually qualify nice-sounding horrible initiatives that will put on PERPETUAL DEFENSE.

Case in point: in mid-May, a longtime liberal activist very quietly filed 5 initiatives that would’ve raised the capital gains income tax EVEN HIGHER.

When I saw them, I knew they were a threat and fortunately, because of my own experiences with initiatives, I knew how to fight back.

After Bob Ferguson violated the law requiring neutral wording to describe those 5 liberal initiatives, I filed lawsuits against them.

Ferguson is completely predictable — he’s violated that neutrality law for 10 years — every time he supports an initiative, he gives it a nice-sounding ballot title — when he opposes an initiative, he sabotages it.

As you know, the state supreme court ruled that Ferguson’s ballot title for our $30 Tabs Initiative was “misleading and deceptive” — here’s how he reacted when the court struck it down:

If I hadn’t seen those 5 liberal initiatives and didn’t file my 5 lawsuits against them, the Public Interest GroupS pushing them would’ve had 2 months to qualify their initiatives for this November’s ballot.

Then the PIGS would’ve been on offense, pushing initiatives that took money from people who earned it so they could turn around and give it to people who didn’t.

Here’s the 5 bullets we dodged:

* Initiative 1934: This measure would exclude individuals with under $500,000 in capital gains (currently $250,000) from paying capital gains tax, increase the tax rate from 7% to 9.9%, and dedicate any additional revenue to education.

* Initiative 1935: This measure would exclude individuals with less than $500,000 in capital gains (currently $250,000) from paying capital gains tax, and impose a revenue-neutral surtax on individuals with more than $1,000,000 in capital gains.

* Initiative 1936: This measure would impose a 3% surtax on long-term capital gains above $1,000,000 per year, dedicate revenue to education and childcare, and expand the small business deduction and apply it to certain farms.

* Initiative 1937: This measure would impose a 4% surtax on capital gains above $1,000,000 annually, increase the standard deduction from $250,000 to $500,000 per year, and dedicate any increased revenue to education and childcare.

* Initiative 1938: This measure would impose a 2% surtax on individuals with capital gains above $1,000,000 annually and dedicate any increased revenue to support and expand K-12 education, early learning, and childcare programs and services.

Those all clearly violate the neutrality law and each of my lawsuits challenged Bob Ferguson’s illegal behavior.

I was ready to argue that in court.

But last week, the PIGS threw in the towel:

All –

The sponsor of I-1934 through 1938 has withdrawn the measures. This moots all pending cases appealing the ballot titles.

Why did the PIGS give up?

Because my lawsuits ran out the clock.

If not for my lawsuits, the conservative community — large & small businesses, wealthy people, rich people, regular people — would have been forced to raise and spend MILLIONS OF DOLLARS running NO campaigns against the PIGS’ initiatives.

That would’ve meant less money for our candidates and less for our own conservative initiatives.

But fortunately, my lawsuits blocked them.

But they’ll be back.

And Bob Ferguson will be there to help them.

We’re always going to be fighting on the initiative battlefield — the only question is: will we be on offense or defense?

That’s why for 22 years, I’ve pushed conservative initiatives so that we’re on offense:

Is it any wonder Bob Ferguson wants to prohibit all my future political activity?

Appealing the AG’s ridiculously unconstitutional restrictions on the First Amendment is absolutely critical. Because if he gets away with it with me, he’ll just target someone else.

And I refuse to let that happen.

I’m only here is because of the love and support of folks like you who’ve watched this gross abuse of power by the AG and are willing to help me and my family get through this.

I love you all.

And now a message from Larry Jensen & Sid Maietto:

We’re asking folks to donate to our PAC so we can keep fighting for taxpayers with Jim Walsh’s initiative I-1491, the STOP ALL INCOME TAXES INITIATIVE.
