This is our last chance to tell senators to reject the worst anti-initiative bill ever. Email them NOW because floor debate & senate vote is TONIGHT!

If this bill passes into law and empowers the AG to slap a totally biased Surgeon General’s warning label on tax initiatives (but not other kinds of initiatives), then no tax initiative will pass ever again.

100 year law requiring neutral ballot titles is getting thrown out the window.

Wed, March 2nd, 2022

Tonight on the floor, 49 senators will debate and vote on the worst anti-initiative bill: Substitute House Bill 1876.

75% of the people who testified in house committee opposed it.

72% citizen opposition in senate committee.

The bill empowers the Attorney General to plaster onto all tax initiatives a Surgeon General’s warning label like on cigarette packs (“The repeal of this tax will result in your favorite government programs being eliminated. Should this measure be approved. Yes ___ No ___”).

For 100 years, ballot titles for initiatives have been legally required to not create bias for or against the measure.

This joke of a bill takes away our rights:

1) it violates the neutrality law by empowering the Attorney General to insert a loaded, biased sentence into the neutral ballot title BUT ONLY ON TAX INITIATIVES, not on initiatives promoting other topics.

2) it violates the right for judicial oversight by prohibiting citizens from challenging it in court.

With the debate and floor vote tonight, here’s OUR LAST CHANCE to tell senators to reject it.

Email all 49 senators right now.

Copy & paste this into the Subject line:

Senators, I’m asking you to REJECT SHB 1876 tonight. It violates the 100-year-old neutrality law for describing initiatives and prohibits judicial oversight. I am completely opposed to this legislative attack on our constitutional right to initiative.

Copy & paste this (or something like this) into the body of the email (tell ’em how you feel):

Senators, I’m asking you to REJECT SHB 1876 tonight. It violates the 100-year-old neutrality law for describing initiatives and prohibits judicial oversight. I am completely opposed to this legislative attack on our constitutional right to initiative. It empowers the Attorney General to insert a loaded, biased sentence into the official ballot title for tax initiatives, BUT NOT FOR INITIATIVES ON ANY OTHER TOPIC. And HB 1876 prohibits any judicial oversight — the AG’s biased sentence is not subject to appeal. 75% of folks who testified in the House and 72% of folks who testified in the Senate were AGAINST it. This bill is discriminatory and wrong. THE INITIATIVE PROCESS IS OURS, NOT YOURS, LEAVE IT ALONE!! Oppose SHB 1876 tonight on the senate floor tonight.

Please do it NOW!

Is it any wonder the AG is pushing for a lifetime ban on all my future political activity?

I can’t make any money doing my political activism.

I can’t make any money with my lawsuit against Inslee for abusing his power.

I don’t have the same rights as other Americans do anymore.

So I’m urging you — while I’m fighting to help our state and our nation with my initiative efforts and my lawsuit against Inslee — please help me fight back against Fascist Fergie by donating to my legal defense fund.

Please donate TODAY:
