Tomorrow’s court hearing on my lawsuit challenging Inslee for abuse of power has been changed to next Friday. Hope you’ll join me then.

ANTI-INITIATIVE BILLS GET HEARING. Tell legislators: keep your dirty hands off the citizens’ initiative process. It’s ours, not yours, leave it alone!

Tomorrow’s court hearing on my lawsuit challenging Inslee’s abuse of power has been rescheduled and will instead be heard next Friday (Fri, Jan 21, 9:00am, Olympia). Please join me there.

Thurs, Jan 13, 2022

Democrats hate the initiative process because they can’t control it.

In setting up our Constitution, the people made it very clear that ALL POWER is inherent in the people.

And we granted the government power, but we reserved to ourselves the right to initiative.

And it’s a brutally difficult process already (a huge number of voter signatures are required to qualify and only a handful of initiatives ever make it).

There are 2 anti-initiative bills that have been introduced and scheduled for a hearing.

I need everyone’s help me stop them.

HOUSE BILL 1727: For over 100 years, we’ve had the right to initiative every year. HB 1727 takes away half our rights by prohibiting the people from voting on initiatives in odd years. Legislators vote on bills every year (and pass many into law), the people should have the right to vote on initiatives every year.

HOUSE BILL 1876: For over 100 years, the law has required the Attorney General to write the official description for an initiative — the ballot title — so that the wording does not create bias for or against the initiative.

HB 1876 violates that requirement by empowering the Attorney General to insert an additional sentence into the official description for initiatives he doesn’t like (the bill allows him to decide which initiatives get the extra sentence and which ones don’t). Even worse, for over 100 years, anyone not satisfied with the AG’s ballot title can go to court and get a judge to review it to make sure it’s unbiased. HB 1876 violates that requirement by prohibiting any appeal of the AG’s extra sentence.

I ask you to do 2 things:

First, email all 147 legislators right now — I’ve made it really easy:

Copy & paste this into the Subject line:
KEEP YOUR DIRTY HANDS OFF THE CITIZENS’ INITIATIVE PROCESS — IT’S OURS, NOT YOURS — LEAVE IT ALONE!! I’m asking you to strongly oppose HB 1727 and HB 1876.

Copy & paste this (or something like this) into the body of the email (tell ’em how you feel):
Our state Constitution guarantees the people the right to initiative. HB 1727 and HB 1876 take away that right. HB 1727 takes away half our rights by prohibiting initiatives in odd years. Olympia has legislative sessions every year, the people deserve the right to initiative every year. HB 1876 empowers the Attorney General to sabotage initiatives he doesn’t like. Initiative descriptions must be unbiased and must be subject to appeal in the courts — HB 1876 violates both these requirements. The initiative process is tough enough already (huge number of voter signatures required, few qualify, only half pass). Changing the initiative process requires changing the Constitution — neither of these bills do that — they attempt to strip us of our rights with laws, not constitutional amendments. KEEP YOUR DIRTY HANDS OFF THE CITIZENS’ INITIATIVE PROCESS — IT’S OURS, NOT YOURS — LEAVE IT ALONE!! I’m asking you to strongly oppose HB 1727 and HB 1876.

Send 2 separate emails: one to the Senate and one to the House.

12) Click on “I’m Done”

But actually, you’re not done.

13) Because you need to go through steps 3-12 again for House Bill 1876.

Is the above overly complicated and difficult?

Of course it is.

Because they don’t want you to do it.

So do it anyway.

We’ve beaten back bills like these for years.

But that’s because we worked hard and didn’t let their road blocks stand in our way.

Do that again this year.

Is it any wonder the AG is pushing for a lifetime ban on all my future political activity?

I can’t make any money doing my political activism.

I can’t make any money with my lawsuit against Inslee for abusing his power.

I don’t have the same rights as other Americans do anymore.

So I’m urging you — while I’m fighting to help our state and our nation with my initiative efforts and my lawsuit against Inslee — please help me fight back against Fascist Fergie by donating to my legal defense fund.

Don’t let the guy who took away our $30 Tabs get away with this:

As you know, we worked really hard on our $30 Tabs Initiative:

We got I-976 qualified and passed even after opponents spent $5 million lying to voters (and using taxpayer money too).

Karen and I sacrificed a lot — we sold off our retirement fund to kickstart its signature drive:

I’m still fighting to get us our $30 Tabs:

And now a message from Larry Jensen & Sid Maietto:

We’re asking folks to donate to our PAC so we can keep fighting for taxpayers with initiatives sponsored by the three of us (Tim, Sid, & Larry).

The taxpayers of Washington need our help now more than ever. Donate to our political committee so we can keep fighting for you:

Mail your check — made payable to “Permanent Offense” — to: Permanent Offense, PO Box 6151, Olympia, WA, 98507
Or donate online: PermanentOffense.com

Kindest Regards,

Sid Maietto & Larry Jensen

Thanks everyone.

We love you all.
