Why “Republican” Brad Hawkins joined w/ the Dems on SB 5182 — he voted for 11 tax hikes costing us $19.3 BILLION.

Hidden microphone recorded what Inslee said to Hawkins: “I need more Republicans like you, Brad. You’re giving needed political cover to all the Democrats when passing our liberal schemes. You’re my favorite Republican!”

Voters have 4 times passed initiatives requiring tax advisory votes. Not only do they allow voters to vote on tax increases, they transform the voters pamphlet into a tax increase report card. Every time Olympia raises our taxes, millions of voters can look in the November voters pamphlet and learn which taxes were increased, how much they’ll cost, and how legislators voted on them.

Yesterday, I pointed out that Democrats needed a turncoat Republican to take away your right to vote (https://permanentoffense.com/dems-needed-a-turncoat-republican-to-take-away-your-right-to-vote-they-found-one-and-he-voted-w-all-the-donkeys-yesterday-to-repeal-your-right-to-vote/).

They found one. In committee this week, “Republican” Brad Hawkins from Wenatchee voted with all the Democrats to repeal your right to vote on tax increases, keep secret the cost of tax increases, and hide legislators’ votes on tax bills.

I encouraged all of you to contact him.

This email to him caught my eye: “WHAT WAS HE THINKING?”

I wondered the same thing. So I went to the Secretary of State’s website and looked at recent tax advisory votes.

In the last 4 legislative sessions (2017-2020), there were 20 tax increases imposed by the Legislature and signed into law by Inslee. The state budget office confirms those 20 tax hikes will cost us $37.4 billion.

Hawkins voted for 11 of them (out of 20). His tax votes cost taxpayers $19.3 billion (out of $37.4 billion).

And that certainly explains Hawkins’ turncoat vote for SB 5182. He doesn’t want his tax votes in the voters pamphlet.

That is Committee Chair Democrat Sam Hunt sitting behind “Republican” Brad Hawkins

But expressing your disgust with him isn’t enough.

I’m disgusted with “Republican” Brad Hawkins support for SB 5182 — I strongly oppose legislators taking away my right to vote on tax increases, hiding the cost of tax increases, and keeping legislators’ votes on tax bills secret. Don’t take away my right to vote on tax increases — we voted for this policy 4 times — please oppose SB 5182.

SEND RIGHT AWAY (if you have problems, let me know, I’ll help).

AG Bob Ferguson is pushing for a lifetime ban on all my future political activity. Don’t let him get away with it.

We’re asking folks to donate to our PAC so we can get paid back. And your donations will also help stop Inslee’s Income Tax and Carbon Tax Schemes.
