Let me tell you about the destruction of another liberal initiative: 99% of the credit goes to Glen Morgan, 1% to me. ACLU’s initiative legalizing all drugs is dead.

Glen Morgan is one of my heroes.

He’s a fellow conservative political activist here in Washington state.

He’s smart, he’s experienced, he’s relentless, he’s a brilliant political “strategerist”, and he’s all-in to make things better for the state he was born and raised in.

But he has a flaw: he’s way too humble.

Here’s one of the downsides of being too humble:

This happens to Glen a lot.

He does amazing things and no one knows about them.

That’s not going to happen this time.

Because I’m going to tell you about a crushing victory Glen just accomplished that benefits all of us that you’re not going to read about in the papers, hear on the radio, or see on the TV news.

And knowing him, I doubt he’ll tell anyone about it.

But it’s an incredibly inspirational story that needs to be told because it illustrates how one person can make a difference.

So here goes:

Glen Morgan has single-handedly destroyed the ACLU’s initiative to legalize ALL drugs in the state of Washington from qualifying for this November’s ballot.

It’s an amazing accomplishment.

As I’ve reported previously, I legally challenged Bob Ferguson’s ballot titles for 5 liberal initiatives that would’ve raised the capital gains taxes EVEN HIGHER. My lawsuits ran out the clock and the liberal sponsor withdrew the initiatives and didn’t even try to collect signatures because time had run out.

Around the same time I first noticed those initiatives, I also saw that the ACLU got a fluffy, super-biased ballot title from the AG for their initiative to legalize all drugs in Washington.

I told Glen about it and suggested he challenge it.

It was like saying “sic em” to an attack dog:

Glen really went after it.

His legal brief challenging the AG’s ballot title is a work of art because it lays bare the destructive policies in the initiative that the AG was trying to hide from the public and the favorable treatment Ferguson always gives to initiatives pushed by his cronies.

You can read it here (click on image to read it):

If that doesn’t work, click here.

Because Glen knew about Ferguson favoring his cronies, Glen did a public records request asking for emails between the ACLU and the AG’s office.

The AG’s first response was to say that his request would take weeks to provide.

So Glen turned around and asked the judge for a delay in the proceeding until the AG provided the records.

As soon as he filed his motion for continuance, the ACLU freaked out, called their buddy Bob, and “suddenly” the AG’s office produced the emails the next day (providing one more example of Ferguson’s corruption of the process).

After that, more back and forth occurred.

And when the dust settled, Glen’s lawsuit had successfully delayed BY NEARLY 4 WEEKS the start of their signature drive.

The ACLU began their campaign telling their donors it’d cost X dollars to qualify.

So they lined up X dollars and had their donors launder their contributions through the ACLU, hiding the donors’ identities (illegal, of course, but Ferguson never goes after his cronies so they’ll get away with it).

Glen’s 4 week delay resulted in an exponential increase in the cost to qualify (less time means more cost).

So instead of the amount originally budgeted (X dollars), they needed X plus Y dollars (Y being a really big number).

With the July 8th deadline fast approaching, the ACLU went to their donors and told them they needed to kick in a lot more than they were originally told (“We need an additional Y dollars or else we won’t make it”).

I found out last week that their big donors said no — they told the ACLU that they had donated what they were told to donate (X dollars) and weren’t going to give more.

So the ACLU’s paid signature drive was cancelled last week because they didn’t have enough money to finish it.

The ACLU hasn’t announced their failure yet.

They raised and spent $3.1 million+ and didn’t qualify.

And why wasn’t that enough?

Glen Morgan.

Congratulations Glen.

Your heroic efforts saved the conservative community — large and small businesses, associations, wealthy donors, rich donors, and regular donors — MILLIONS of dollars that can now go to our candidates and our own initiatives (and you stopped a horribly destructive initiative as well).

I am proud to call Glen a friend, an ally, and an inspiration to us all.

Is it any wonder Bob Ferguson wants to prohibit all my future political activity?

Appealing the AG’s ridiculously unconstitutional restrictions on the First Amendment is absolutely critical. Because if he gets away with it with me, he’ll just target someone else.

And I refuse to let that happen.

I’m only here is because of the love and support of folks like you who’ve watched this gross abuse of power by the AG and are willing to help me and my family get through this.

I love you all.

And now a message from Larry Jensen & Sid Maietto:

We’re asking folks to donate to our PAC so we can keep fighting for taxpayers with Jim Walsh’s initiative I-1491, the STOP ALL INCOME TAXES INITIATIVE.

The taxpayers of Washington need our help now more than ever. Donate to our political committee so we can keep fighting for you:
